Rapidemo, Cursorful, Canvid, Pane Studio and FocalFlow vs Girato

Comparison · 6 min read · Updated October 2026

Short answer: a wave of auto-zoom recorders arrived after Screen Studio went subscription-only. Cursorful ($79) and Canvid ($75) undercut Girato's $99 lifetime; Rapidemo and Pane Studio charge $199 for theirs; FocalFlow is subscription only. Three of the five run only on Windows. Girato is the one that runs on Windows, Mac and in the browser, with transcript editing and chapters free. Here is each one, honestly, as its own page described it today.

The whole Girato edit, filmed in the real app. Works on Windows, Mac or in the browser.

Rapidemo

A Windows recorder that builds zooms and cursor motion from your clicks, with local subtitles. You can record and edit free, but export needs a licence: $199 once with a year of updates, or $9 a month billed yearly. Mac and Linux are "under evaluation" with no date. Girato costs half as much once, keeps updating, and runs on a Mac.

Cursorful

Started as a browser extension and now has Mac and Windows apps. Free use has no watermark but is non-commercial. Zoom kicks in after two or more clicks within three seconds. Pro is $79 per seat at its launch price, cheaper than Girato's lifetime. Girato zooms on every click and includes transcript editing and chapters.

Canvid

Windows and Mac, clicks become zoom keyframes, with auto subtitles. The $75 desktop lifetime is cheaper than Girato's $99; there is no free export, so you buy before you share anything. Girato lets you finish and post your first videos free.

Pane Studio

A Windows-native recorder, still labelled beta, with a fair free tier: 720p, no watermark, commercial use allowed. Full quality is $14.99 a month, $9 a month yearly or $199 once. Girato's free tier exports 1080p and its lifetime is $100 less.

EaseUS FocalFlow

Windows only, from the EaseUS utilities family: auto zoom on clicks, cursor smoothing, backgrounds and AI subtitles in paid editions. It is subscription only, from $21.99 a month, with no lifetime option.

Where Girato falls short

Cursorful and Canvid are cheaper one-time buys, and Pane's free tier has no badge at all. Girato's Windows installer is not code-signed yet. What it adds is reach (Windows, Mac and a browser tab), local transcript editing and chapters, and a cinematic finish.
