Loom is for messages. Use this for polished demos.

Short answer: keep Loom for internal async messages, it's built for that and does it well. The moment a recording is customer-facing (launch video, landing page, sales outreach, social), switch to a cinematic auto-zoom recorder. The output difference is not subtle.

What Loom optimises for

Loom's genius is latency: record, get a link, paste it in Slack, done in under a minute. Webcam bubble, view notifications, comments. For "can you check this?" videos, nothing beats it.

But those design choices cost you when the viewer is a prospect rather than a teammate: flat full-screen capture with no zoom (your product is a speck), minimal editing, plans with watermarks and caps, and hosting on Loom's cloud with Loom's player around your content.

What customer-facing videos need instead

The two-tool stack

Most teams land on both: Loom (or similar) for internal speed, plus a cinematic recorder for anything external. Girato covers the second slot on Windows, Mac and even in the browser, record once, auto-edit, export MP4 in 16:9 for the site and 9:16 for social. Everything renders locally, so client screens never touch a third-party cloud.

Rule of thumb

If the viewer could churn, buy, or share it, stage it and zoom it. If the viewer sits in your Slack, Loom it.
