Why "no upload" matters for a converter
Most online GIF converters send your video to their server, convert it there, and keep who-knows-what. For screen recordings, which routinely contain emails, dashboards and customer data, that's a real leak vector. This page uses your browser's own decoder plus an open-source GIF encoder (gifenc, MIT), so the bytes stay on your machine. Turn off Wi-Fi after loading the page; it still works.
Getting a smaller GIF
- Trim first, convert second, every second costs megabytes.
- 480–640px wide is plenty for READMEs (GitHub renders ~890px content width; see our README GIF guide).
- 10 fps reads fine for UI motion; 15 fps only if cursor smoothness is the point.
